Truthfully had never heard of this band, but as the name is a Kafka reference I thought they might be onto something. "Painted Mind" is kind of difficult to describe because it's multi-layered & complex while also being melodically direct & near classical in some parts. The vocals start harsh & then veer into clean territory near the middle to epic effect, with a balance throughout. This record is a complete sleeper & the more I hear, the more impressive Odradek Room become. A beautiful album.
Favorite track: Escape.

'Painted Mind' — a new album from Ukrainian band ODRADEK ROOM, which remains at the forefront of the intellectual metal scene. Stylistically the band's music originates from atmospheric post-metal and doom death metal with elements of related genres.
Project's author-produced animated clips, which together form a whole psychedelic film with an overarching plot. The album depicts the psychological aspect of 'mind obscuring', deconstructing and diving into suppressed states of consciousness. The band invites you on a journey to go through their path of realizing ideas, causes, and consequences of the film's story.
The stylish six-panel digipack includes artwork from the author's animated film and has to get a decent place in your collection.
